Photosensitizers

Specific compounds can release reactive oxygen species upon irradiation by light. Applications of reactive oxygen species have emerged as the broad area ranging from cancer therapy to reduction of dangerous waste. We have extensively studied TiO2 and phthalocyanine as photosensitizers especially due to their favourable photophysical characteristics and the ability to tune properties of phthalocyanine by proper substitution.
