E-paper and antistatic packaging
Standard paper is a good insulator. To increase its conductivity, mainly carbon conductive pastes are currently used, which are applied to its surface. This brings some disadvantages that prevent its use on a larger scale.
In COC, a simple direct modification of cellulose fibbers has been developed. Conductive polymer is applied directly on the cellulose fibbers by in situ polymerization process. Depending on the type of conductive polymer and its addition in the paper, varying degrees of surface resistance can be achieved as required for the final applications. Production technology follows standard technological procedures.
A product made of paper with an antistatic treatment is protected from static electricity just like the product wrapped in this paper. Higher concentrations of conductive polymers enable the construction of electronic devices (e.g. electroluminescent elements) directly on the surface of a paper sheet.
