Cotton textiles with self-cleaning treatment
The photoactive effect of suitable chemical substances was used to prepare modified textile materials. Photoactive material in the form of so-called reactive dyes was firmly fixed to the cotton fibbers by procedures commonly used in industrial practice. In cooperation with Inotex (http://www.inotex.cz/textilie-pro-ustenky.aspx ) cotton textiles intended for the healthcare industry in the shade "medical green" were developed. Products made of these textiles are protected from the accumulation of dangerous microorganisms after being illuminated by interior light and protect medical personnel and patients from the unwanted transmission of infections.
Textiles were used for the production of masks during the first wave of the Covid pandemic. These are repeatedly washable mouthpieces that reliably prevent the transmission of infections. Their effectiveness was tested and confirmed at SZÚ. At the same time, they do not burden the environment like disposable protective equipment. Currently, textiles are being introduced into healthcare facilities, including nursing homes.
The use of photoactive materials for the area of so-called functional textiles brings about a revival of the textile industry in Central Europe with a focus on technical and functional textiles.
