Shortened treatment of dermatophytosis.

The fungal infection, dermatophytosis, is wide spread among humans, as well as animals. Typically affected areas are mainly skin, hair (fur) and nails (claws). Fungal infection is easily transferred by parasitic fungi such as Trichophyton. These organisms tend to survive in highly humid sectors, mainly in bathrooms. Classical treatment of dermatophytosis requires medicaments prescribed for several months and sometimes needs to be repeated. Our photoactive preparate in the form of water solution can efficiently kill pathogenic fungi after irradiation with sunlight. We had tested the properties of preparate on Guinea pigs with dermatophytosis and proved antifungal effects within 7 days, which can dramatically shorten conventional cure.
